What this rule requires your agency to do

  • 1Long-term care facilities must include a pandemic plan for influenza and other infectious diseases conforming to CDC standards, covering surveillance, communication, education/training, infection control, and surge capacity.(Disaster Preparedness Plans (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 111-8-16))

  • 5The facility must designate staff to participate in the regional DPH healthcare coalition, including maintaining a web-based emergency operations center account and providing evidence of at least annual communication drills/coalition meetings and at least annual contact with the local emergency management agency coordinator.(Disaster Preparedness Plans (Ga.   • 6The facility must maintain and make available to the Department a copy of the plan and changes, records of rehearsals, and records of incidents requiring plan implementation; emergency events causing injury or loss of life must be reported to the Department within 24 hours.(Disaster Preparedness Plans (Ga.   • 7The facility must review the disaster preparedness plan at least annually and submit a revised plan on specified triggers (e.g., 10% or greater increase in patients/residents, change in evacuation strategy, major renovations).(Disaster Preparedness Plans (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 111-8-16))

Georgia's Disaster Preparedness Plans rules require licensed healthcare facilities (Home Health Agencies and Family Personal Care Homes are exempt) to develop, rehearse, and maintain a written disaster preparedness plan, participate in regional healthcare coalitions, and (for long-term care facilities) maintain pandemic/infection-control plans and PPE supplies.
