What this rule requires your agency to do
- 1The agency must provide attendant training covering documentation and time-record verification, client rights and confidentiality, special needs of elderly and disabled persons, communication skills, first aid and CPR certification, and service-specific topics such as emergency response, nutrition, hygiene, infection control, mobility techniques, and maintaining a safe environment. - 2The agency must evaluate and determine each attendant to be competent in the required training areas, with training completed within the 12 months immediately preceding the start of client care. - 3The agency must ensure each attendant participates in and completes a training program, including supervised on-the-job instruction, before independently providing personal care services. - 4The agency must ensure each attendant obtains a working knowledge of the chapter provisions governing agency licensing before providing personal care services to clients. (NAC 449.3977(1)(a))(Nev. - 5The agency must ensure each attendant is at least 18 years of age and possesses the maturity and personal qualities needed to understand the problems of elderly persons and persons with disabilities. Nevada regulates personal care attendants employed by licensed agencies providing personal care services in the home. NAC 449.3975 sets minimum qualifications and an 8-hour annual training floor; NAC 449.3977 requires attendants to complete a training program with specified topics, be evaluated as competent by the agency, and hold current first aid/CPR before independently delivering care.
