What this rule requires your agency to do
- 1Home attendants shall meet one of six enumerated qualifications: completion of an RN or PN education program; completion of a Virginia Board of Nursing-approved nurse aide education program; Virginia Board of Nursing nurse aide certification; enrollment in an RN/PN program with at least one completed clinical nursing course; passing a competency evaluation meeting 42 CFR 484.36(b) (personal care attendants need be evaluated only on tasks relating to the personal care services provided); or completion of DMAS's "Personal Care Aide Training Curriculum," 2003 edition (personal care attendants only) (12VAC5-381-290(1)-(6)).(12VAC5-381-290. Applies to: Licensed home care organizations in Virginia employing home attendants (aides)
Sets the qualification pathways a home attendant must meet, including English literacy, completion of a nursing or nurse aide education program, Virginia Board of Nursing nurse aide certification, enrollment in a nursing program with clinical experience, passing a competency evaluation under 42 CFR 484.36(b), or completing DMAS's Personal Care Aide Training Curriculum (personal care attendants only).
