26 TAC 558.300 — Medication Administration

What this rule requires your agency to do

  • 1Document in the medication administration record or clinical notes any medication not administered and the reason it was not administered (subsec. (b)(2)(B)).(26 TAC 558.300 — Medication Administration)
  • 2Ensure the individual delivering care reports any adverse reaction to a supervisor and documents it in the client's record on the day of occurrence (or, if after hours, as soon as disclosed) (subsec. (b)(3)).(26 TAC 558.300 — Medication Administration)

For clients to whom agency staff administer medications, requires a HCSSA to adopt and enforce a written policy maintaining a current medication list and medication administration record, act only on a practitioner's order, screen for adverse drug therapy/reactions, document omitted doses and reasons, and report and document adverse reactions the day they occur.
