What this rule requires your agency to do
- 1Home health aide services shall be supervised by an appropriately licensed professional with at least one year experience, who prepares written patient/client task instructions and documents a supervisory visit to the residence at least every 62 days (D).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)
- 2Physical therapy assistant services shall be supervised by a physical therapist with at least one year experience, who identifies tasks, documents a supervisory visit at least every 30 days, remains on-call within a 100 mile radius (or appoints another PT), and supervises no more than two PT assistants (B).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)
- 3LPN services shall be furnished under the supervision of an RN with at least one year home health experience or two years nursing experience, who identifies appropriate LPN tasks and documents a supervisory visit to at least one patient/client residence at least every 60 days (A).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)
- 4Certified occupational therapy assistant services shall be supervised by an occupational therapist with at least one year experience, who documents supervisory visits at least every two weeks (intermediate-level) or every 30 days (advanced-level) (C).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)
- 5Homemaker services shall be supervised by a licensed professional or appropriately qualified staff member with one year direct patient care experience, with written care instructions and a documented supervisory visit at least every 62 days (F).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)
- 6Personal care attendant or equivalent services shall be supervised by a licensed professional or appropriately qualified staff member with one year direct patient care experience, with written care instructions and a documented supervisory visit at least every 62 days (E).(NMAC 8.370.22.29 — SUPERVISION OF SECONDARY AND NONLICENSED PERSONNEL)

Sets supervision requirements and supervisory-visit frequencies for secondary and nonlicensed personnel, including licensed practical nurses, physical therapy assistants, certified occupational therapy assistants, home health aides, personal care attendants or equivalent, and homemakers.
