What this rule requires your agency to do
- 1The training program shall consist of at least 40 hours to be completed in the first year of employment, with at least 10 hours completed before placing the employee in a patient/client home (at most 2 of which may be agency orientation and at least 8 of which must be patient/client service specific), covering all required subject areas (C).(NMAC 8.370.22.31 — HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT OR EQUIVALENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS)
- 2The agency shall document training or competency evaluation for each individual, observed and documented by a licensed professional or appropriately qualified person, retaining the specified information; each homemaker/personal care attendant or equivalent shall participate in at least 10 documented hours of in-service training during each 12-month period (E).(NMAC 8.370.22.31 — HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT OR EQUIVALENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS)

- 4The agency shall not employ a homemaker/personal care attendant or equivalent unless the individual is competent to provide assigned tasks and has completed a training program or competency evaluation program (A).(NMAC 8.370.22.31 — HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT OR EQUIVALENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS)
- 5The agency shall obtain licensing authority approval of its homemaker/personal care attendant curriculum before instituting training; agencies not providing formal training shall identify and document their method of establishing competency (B).(NMAC 8.370.22.31 — HOMEMAKER/PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT OR EQUIVALENT TRAINING REQUIREMENTS)
