What this rule requires your agency to do

  • 1Where a plan of care cannot be completed until after an evaluation visit, the agency shall consult the physician to approve additions or modifications to the original plan (A(2)).(NMAC 8.370.22.33 — PLAN OF CARE)
  • 2For a patient/client receiving nursing services, the agency shall check all medications to identify ineffective drug therapy, adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies, and contraindicated medications, and shall promptly report medication problems to the physician (A(5)(c)).(NMAC 8.370.22.33 — PLAN OF CARE)

  • 7For medically directed care, the agency shall follow a written plan of care established and periodically reviewed by a physician, with care continuing under physician supervision, developed in consultation with agency staff and covering all pertinent diagnoses and the specified elements (A, A(1)).(NMAC 8.370.22.33 — PLAN OF CARE)

Requires that care of a patient/client follow a written plan of care reviewed at least annually. For medically directed care, the plan must be established and periodically reviewed by a physician, cover all pertinent diagnoses and specified elements, and conform to physician's orders; for non-medically directed care, the plan must include appropriate goals and objectives and be reviewed at least annually by agency staff.
